Teeling Distillery and Umbrella Brewing have partnered for a collaboration. The process has a back and forth with the aging barrels from Dublin, Ireland to London, England, and back again. The process starts at Teeling, who ships their used barrels (formerly ex-bourbon hogsheads) to Umbrella to be filled with their ginger beer. There they let the beer age for two years. Then Umbrella drains and ships those barrels back to Teeling. Once back in Teeling’s distillery, the barrels are filled up with their small-batch whiskey. The whiskey is matured for 9 months in the ginger beer seasoned barrels. Teeling bottled the limited-edition whiskey without chill filtration, and at a 46% ABV (92 proof).
Starting November 2nd, 2020, Teeling Umbrella Brewing Ginger Beer Cask is only available online. The whiskey release has an MSRP of £45/$60 per 750-ml bottle. You can also enjoy the ginger beer that was aged for two years in Teeling’s whiskey barrels. The whiskey and beer gift set is at an MSRP of £80/$105.
