The new Tabernacle Havana Seed CT No. 142 was launched at last years IPCPR. Many know the Shade and Broadleaf tobaccos, but there are also many different kinds cultivated in Connecticut. This is on of those, more precisely a Cuban seed grown in CT, which is short for Connecticut. The production is handled by AJ Fernandez’s factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.

The wrapper is of an oily Maduro shade. It has some definitely some tooth to it and is quite rustic to the touch. Construction is excellent.
Tabernacle Havana Seed CT No. 142 Corona: the cold draw reveals spices and vegetal notes. Once lit, the first puff is immediately spicy, paired with coffee.
Getting further into the first third, the spices and coffee are now joined by earth and walnut. There are also notes of white pepper perceptible in the background, underlined by some sweetness. Strength is medium (3/5).
The smoke becomes creamy in the second third. Notes of wood and balsamic herbs are now present, with mix of spices having moved to the background. Earthy. Strength stays on the medium level (3/5).
In the last third, the earth and balsamic herbs take over. Coffee returns, together with black pepper and leather. The interesting mix of spices is still present in the background. Strength grows to a medium – full (4/5).
Overall, the Tabernacle Havana Seed CT No. 142 Corona is a very balanced cigar with a long finish. The flavor profile is broad and complex and the slight changes in each third keep the cigar interesting.
