Tasting notes PUNI VINA MARSALA EDITION
Nose: peculiar right from the start. Initially hints of cereals, which do not recall the new make but rather cereal biscuits. Then wheat, a feature that we have found in other products in Puni’s range. Then, fruity aromas, peach, candied orange, apricot and yellow apple alternate. Good intensity.
Palate: the intensity grows slowly, starting from a contained level, without ever exceeding a comfort threshold. Spices are perceptible, mainly white pepper, then ripe fruit (peach and apple), sugary tips and green apple. The last aroma perceivable is a smoked paprika sensation, right before the finish.
Finish: medium persistence and discrete complexity. It releases fruity notes (peach and apple), white pepper and a soft hint of espresso coffee.
In the Puni Vina Marsala Edition the character of the Marsala wine introduces notes of ripe fruit. The intensity is decent and allows an interesting analysis of every aspect of this whisky. What is lacking is a higher complexity level, that only a longer aging will be able to bring.
