TASTING NOTES MORTLACH 2003/2016 CADENHEAD’S
Nose: medium-high complexity. An evident spiciness of white pepper at first impact. Then a fresh sensation of freshly cut green salad, the classic vanilla notes from aging in ex-bourbon barrels, yellow fruits (unripe banana and pear) and white peach.
Palate: Notes of black pepper are followed by yellow fruits, which bring with it a touch of acidity. Round, the spices remain evident throughout.
Finish: medium-long persistence. Saffron, white pepper and unripe yellow fruits are perceptible. Shades of peanuts and hazelnuts after a few minutes.
Here we have a not too canonical Mortlach, more focused on the barrels, less on the spirit. However, the character of the parent company emerges.
