TASTING NOTES CAOL ILA 30 1983/2014
Nose: It is then the turn of intense aromas of black pepper, followed by coastal flavors. Charcoal, tobacco, bacon and oyster, complete the flavor profile, all with an important harmony.
Palate: The sweet notes, which however are never too pronounced, blend mesh well with peat, now mild, and spices (mainly black pepper). Red fruits (strawberry and sour cherry) alongside chili pepper and tobacco.
Finish: long persistence and very intense. Peat, spices (including black pepper), red fruits, chili pepper and cocoa are outlined. Hints of Iodine are also present.
First of all, the complexity is very pronounced and the flavor profile is wide and round. What amazes the most is the excellent balance. A great whisky from Islay.
