Opus X is the most prestigious line out of the Dominican Arturo Fuente factory. The Opus X was the completion, after many years of work, of the Fuente’s project to make a Dominican Puro. Currently, the line is made up of sixteen different sizes.

The wrapper of this Torpedo is of a shiny Colorado tonality, smooth to the touch and with almost no veining. Filling is generous, the same goes for the overall construction, only the draw is seems to be on the tighter side.
Arturo Fuente Opus X Perfecxion No. 2: unlit, the perceptible flavors are wood, honey and citrus.
Once lit, the first third is distinctly sweet. Rich notes of hazelnut and coffee characterize the aromatic palette, while hints of citrus and spices lay in the background. Strength is medium (3/5).
The cigar undergoes an interesting evolution in the second third. Firstly, the sweetness declines, making room to a mild salty note. As far as flavors go, they veer towards a very intense cocoa and hazelnut, with rich notes of citrus, spices and balsamic herbs as supporting flavors. Strength increases towards medium-full (4/5).
Burn and combustion don’t show many flaws (only one little correction was necessary) and the ash is holds on for over a third. Althought the flavors and strength remain unchanged in the final third, the evolution doesn’t, allowing the smoker to taste a triptych of flavors composed of cocoa, spices and wood, accompanied by hints of nutmeg.
Overall, the Arturo Fuente Opus X Perfecxion No. 2 reveals to be a classy smoke of great quality. In particular the evolution, which we described as slow and progressive, which can be overlooked when subdivided in to thirds: the aromas alternate between each other, undergoing variations of intensity always in small steps. Definitely a rich, complex and well balanced cigars.
