The new cigar produced by the Moderno Opificio Sigaro Italiano, the Italico Torpedo, is already on its way to tobacconists. This cigar marks a turning point for the Venetian company. For the first time, they not only made a completely handmade cigar, but also use long filler leaves, in Carribean fashion with a wrapper and binder. For more product details click here.
The Torpedo is wrapped in a luminous Colorado shaded wrapper. To the touch, considering that the Kentucky tobacco leaf has a heavier texture than the Caribbean variants, it is quite smooth with rather pronounced veins. Construction is good, while the draw is excellent.

Ambasciator Italico Torpedo: unlit, a strong note of carob, followed by natural rubber and wood, can be perceived.
Overall, the Italico Torpedo is a cigar that is not an easy smoke. The duration of almost two hours, added to a increasing strength, make it a product for lovers of Kentucky tobacco, but Caribbean smokers will find a powerful digression in this product. Flavor-wise, it presents an interesting profile with particular notes and excellent intensity. Too bad for the last third, that does not bring much else in terms of evolution.
