Presented as a world premiere at the Encuentro Amigos de Partagas, in Matelica on July 6th, the Montecristo Supremos will be one of the three Cuban Limited Editions for 2019. On the occasion of the “Premiere”, the top management of Habanos S.A. didn’t reveal the exact date of the worldwide release. We can consider that, as usual, we will have to wait for the last couple of months of the year, to be able to find it in store. Click here to read more about it.
This review counts as a “pre release” and is to be evaluated with caution. Often times these cigars tend to be particularly fresh or the blend change in the final version.
The cigar is rolled in a shiny Colorado shadded wrapper. It is rather smooth to the touch, with fairly small veins. The filling appears generous, while the overall construction is more than good.

Montecristo Supremos: the cold draw is particularly rich, developing an intense note of cocoa, followed by nuts and nuances of pepper and wood.
Overall, the cigar showed signs of its youth. In addition to the ammonia note, the burn was irregular, requiring a couple of corrections. The flavors are rough around the edges. Not the broadest of flavor profiles, but the aromas are however well distinguishable. What is positive, despite this critical seeming review, are the notes in the cold draw. This is definitely still a very fresh cigar, but it has great potential if you let it age properly.
