Two years after its release, the El Güegüense line gets a Maduro make over.
Nicholas Melillo, master blender and president, reblended the El Güegüense with the idea in mind to create an independent and unique flavor profile from the original line. Melillo said this about the San Andres wrapper: „I was looking to create a line extension with a whole different level of complexity and the San Andres wrapper brings just that.“
El Güegüense Maduro uses a Mexican San Andres wrapper, over a Nicaraguan Corojo 99 binder, from the Jalapa region, and a mix of Nicaraguan filler tobaccos from the Condega, Esteli and Jalapa region.
The line consists of the same five sizes as the original, but are slightly box pressed:

▪ Robusto, 50 x 140 mm
▪ Toro Huavo, 56 x 152 mm
▪ Torpedo, 52 x 159 mm
The presentation of the El Güegüense is also different. While still packaged in 25 count boxes, they aren’t dress boxes any more. The logo of the line is branded on the lid of the box and the bands have now a red, instead of blue, background. What hasn’t changed is the location of production, the cigars are still made at TABSA (Tobaccos Valle de Jalapa S.A.).
