Glen Garioch could be the oldest Scottish distillery: there is no concrete evidence, but tradition places the data of the first distillation well before 1797, official foundation date of the Highlands distillery.

TASTING NOTES GLEN GARIOCH 1998/2016 ADELPHI
Nose: some distinctive features of the distillery emerge, such as black pepper and cooked meat. Spices evolve over time: white pepper, cinnamon and saffron. There is also a sweet fruity vein (dried apricots and sour cherries).
Palate: medium-high intensity. Spices dominate the first part. Black pepper and saffron are followed by fruity nuances of strawberry, black cherry and cherry. The spicyness is constantly increasing.
Finale: of long persistence. Spices, red fruit and black pepper are perceptible. A certain astringency can also be perceived due to the cask.
Overall, the cask seems to have given some dryness to a rather determined spirit. The aromatic palette is however ample, interesting and well blended.
