The Kilchoman Original Cask Strength 2016, as the name suggests, is not diluted with water, but the product is the same coming out from the barrel.
The aging of this whisky is made in smaller barrels (quarter casks) than the ones usually used. This gives the distillate a different aromatic profile, due to the bigger impact that the wood has on the liquid.

Tasing notes KILCHOMAN ORIGINAL CASK STRENGTH 2016
Nose: at first, peat and bacon notes come to the nose, together with spices (black pepper), smoke and diesel. Then it is the time of yellow fruits and citrus (citron).
Palate: the black pepper and the peat are the main aromas, followed by smoky notes, bacon and sour yellow fruit.
Final: long persistence. Bacon, black pepper, peat and loquorice alternates each others.
The Kilchoman Original Cask Strength 2016 is a step forward for Kilchoman distillery. Thanks to the quarter casks, the whisky seems to be more aged than how really is. Warm and rich. A very good product.
