The eyes are drawn in by a shiny Colorado shade wrapper. Smooth to the touch and with little veining. The overall construction is excellent.davidoff-escurio-gran-perfecto-3

Davidoff Escurio Gran Perfecto: the cold draw reveals light hints of wood and ripe fruits, with intense notes of nuts.

The beginning of the smoke is slightly sweet. The perceptible aromas, although not very pronounced in intensity which is also due to the Doble Figurado format, are vastly spread: spices and herbs are predominant, followed by white pepper, coffee and wood. The strength is mild (2/5).davidoff-escurio-gran-perfecto-2

In the second third the sweet flavor in the beginning is followed by a salty component. If compared to the first third, the evolution elevates to a more defined aromatic palette: next to the spices and herbs, the wood becomes more intense, tied to the vegetal notes that join the bouquet. The strength doesn’t change (2/5).

The cigar turns in the final third, getting more “intricate”. The flavors go back and forth between the sweet and sapid, with the later being slightly more intense, while the aromas undergo a slight evolution: next to the spices and wood, notes of nuts and chili enter. The strength increases slightly to mild-medium (2,5/5).

Overall, this Gran Perfecto is a good cigar, capable to convince even the more demanding palates. The reduced strength is beneficial to maximize the perception of the flavors. Good evolution, although one could expect a something more in the final third.
