  • Country of origin: Dominican Republic
  • Size: 52 x 127 mm (5″)
  • Capa: Ecuador Connecticut Wrapper
  • Capote: Dominican Criollo 98
  • Tripa: Dominican Corojo and Havana 2020
  • Price: 9.5 $

The second cigar of the line, the Dos77 (Dos77 = 277) was selected because of a box, that went missing during the first production: the box was numbered 277. These cigars were released in July 2015. The distribution in the US began in November of the same year. It was packaged in boxes of 20, at a price of $9.50 per cigar.

Chogüi shows an innovative approach, whether it packaging or the vibrant colors of the graphics.

The inaugural box of the Dos77, for example, resembled a “birdhouse”. There is also the call back of the bird Chogüi in the logos. The cigar has a generous filling, without any soft spots.

Chogüi Dos77 Rogusto: the cold draw reveals hints of hazelnut and spices. The opening is creamy with aromas of wood and white pepper.

The first third develops roasted notes (coffee) and white pepper. Going on, the cigars brings to the palate mineral notes and fine wood. The strength is medium (3/5).

In the second third the fine wood becomes more intense and is followed by a citrus aromas and floral notes. The white pepper dominates the aftertaste. The smoke is ample and very creamy. The strength stays medium (3/5).

The last third sees the return of the roasted coffee notes, with cocoa aromas bursting forth. The base turns sweet. A mix of black pepper, earth and citrus come through in the finale. The strength increases, becoming medium to full (4/5).

Overall a very complex cigar, balanced and harmonious. The aging period of 9 months, before being commercialized, has definitely played in favor of the Rogusto.
